Where the Heart Is

I'm working from my PG today, so I had the privilege of just walking up to the nearest A2B for a strong filter coffee—and that's exactly what I did. If you've watched Twilight or The Vampire Diaries, you probably know how vampires have heightened senses. Well, that’s how I feel whenever I have my soul-satisfying filter coffee.

As I was walking back from the restaurant to my PG, I heard the traffic noises so clearly, almost as if I had my earphones in, playing "traffic ASMR"—something I wouldn't usually notice at all. But that’s how we are, right? We tend to overlook the everyday things simply because they are ordinary. Yet, as I listened to the honks and the vehicles zooming past, I oddly found peace and comfort in it. Do you know what I mean?

I had the urge to pull out my phone and start typing mid-road, but I told myself to "keep the thought" in my mind until I got back to my PG. And the moment I did, I started typing this. I just wanted to remind you all that ordinary things can feel extraordinary when you truly notice them—when you stop taking them for granted.

The same me who just found comfort in the hustle of this city would say otherwise when I go home to my native place—our house in the middle of a coconut farm, sunlight dipping through the leaves, where the air is fresh and can actually be heard because artificial noises like traffic barely exist there. Although I can’t find a place that sells filter coffee in my village, I can still make my own using milk from our own cow, from our own farm.

So, one thing doesn’t always have to be better than the other. Sometimes, two things can hold equal importance, can be felt and loved just the same, and yet remain completely different.

Now that I’ve realized this, it truly makes sense why they say, Home is where the heart is—because, oh boy, that is something you don’t just hear, you feel. I know this isn’t the most structured conclusion for this blog, but then again, it’s my blog, so I’m just going to publish my thoughts as they are.
